Jailbreaking iPhone 3G and 3GS on Windows 3.1.2

These are the instructions for the Windows users who want to upgrade to 3.1.2 preserving their basebands so that they can use ultrasn0w to unlock.

PLEASE TRY ALL THE INSTRUCTION AT YOUR OWN RISK


Please note that if you have one of the following then you can use this custom firmware

1) iPhone 3G or iPhone 3GS
2) You are on official Carrier / ultrasn0w User.
3) You have already pwned / not pwned your iPhone before.
4) This tutorial is not for iPhone 2G users.


Please download the files below first to proceed further.

1) Custom Firmware 3.1.2 (For people with Official Carrier SIM)

2) Custom Firmware 3.1.2 (For people with ultrasn0w)


Note that both above Firmwares will preserve the baseband, so your baseband wont get updated in either case.

After downloading the file, follow the instructions below.

If you have PWNED your iPhone before then simply follow the instructions given below, else get to the DFU mode first and then follow the instructions.

1) Make sure you have latest iTunes (9.0.1)
2) Open iTunes
3) Connect your iPhone to PC
4) When your iPhone gets detected by iTunes, go to iPhone, go to Summary tab.
5) Hold the Shift button from your keyboard and Press the RESTORE button in the Summary tab.
6) A browse window will open, give it the file you have downloaded earlier (Custome Firmware 3.1.2)

Thats all you have to do. iTunes will restore your iPhone and when its finished doing, you ll have ur iphone jailbroken, with Cydia installed.

Ultrasn0w users go to Cydia and install ultrasn0w.
